At BCO

From this week on, the working place is moved from the apartment to Blackrock Castle Observatory.

Desk space is available as well as plenty of technical equipment, so everything is good to go to set up the installation. The equipment available so far will be transported to BCO bit by bit. The final space inside the castle itself will be determined by this or the next week.

Abstract

Here's the abstract/aim of my Project Proposal Document, created one semester before the final Bachelor Work:

"The primary aim of the project 'Star Sound' is to encourage the general public for the science of astronomy and the cosmos, through intuitively interacting with astronomical instruments and experiencing their data in an immersive way. This will be achieved with an audio visual installation located in Blackrock Castle Observatory, that makes telescopes and their recorded data interactive and presents it in an immersive, understandable and exciting way. The project can be used and understood by the general public and there is minimal knowledge required to enjoy and understand the installation, so that visitors do not have to be further educated in the science of astronomy or the functionality of telescopes. It is the project’s major aim to enhance the visitor’s experience in museums or exhibitions that deal with the topic astronomy."

Documenting Implementation

After documenting the brainstorming, research and way to my final idea for my Bachelor Project at the Cork Institute of Technology, the following posts will document my steps and work in implementing the final project.
